Reg Livermore and Kevin Trask

Reg Livermore AO

Reg Livermore was born in Parramatta, Sydney in 1938. He began in showbusiness at an early age. Reg has had an outstanding career as an actor, singer, theatrical performer, designer, director, lyricist and writer and popular television presenter.

Reg attended acting classes in his teenage years and got his first professional engagement at The Phillip Street Theatre. He had a remarkable opportunity to learn his craft working at the Ensemble Theatre in numerous plays with Hayes Gordon as his teacher. Reg went on to play principal roles in stage musicals such as Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar and The Rocky Horror Show.

I loved the diversity of his work over the years and I saw many of his “one man shows” during the 1970’s where he played some great characters.

Reg continued with his television work between stage shows and had great success on the Our House programme on Channel 9. In his later years Reg performed in productions of The Producers and Wicked. In 1996 Reg was awarded the AO.

His autobiography, Chapters and Chances, was published in 2004 and in 2018 his second book Stages – Reg Livermore a Memoir.

It was an honour to meet him at press conferences and publicity interviews. He was always fun and a gentleman.

Reg Livermore has won many awards during his career and rightly so – he is a legend of the Australian stage.
