The Roxy Theatre at Parramatta, built in 1930, is State Heritage listed as a unique theatre building in the Spanish style. Originally it seated 2000, and later became a flagship cinema for Hoyts. In the 1970s it was converted to three screens and in more recent times has been used as a tavern.
The Roxy Theatre Action group is lobbying the State Government and Parramatta City Council for a land swap which would see the theatre brought into public ownership, and fully restored to its original configuration as a 1600 seat, world class performing arts theatre with new stage, lighting and dressing room facilities.
Please support the Save the Roxy campaign.
